I find baby toys to be such a conundrum. I always have difficulty figuring out how many baby toys my son really needs and how long he will actually play with the baby toys.
Obviously, we want to buy toys that will last the longest and that our babies will love! Through lots of trial and error, I have found that the toys in this post are the ones my son has loved playing with from 0-12 months (or close to it!).

I received these baby maracas at my baby shower from another mom. They were not on my registry, but she said, “Just trust me, baby will LOVE them!” She was not wrong.
My son was fascinated at them by 1-2 months old. He started trying to grasp them around 3 months. He started shaking them shortly after that, and he hasn’t stopped since.
These toys are STILL some of his favorites!!
The First Years Stack Up Cup Toys
I wasn’t sure if my son would be into these stacking cups when we first got them, but he ended up loving them. Another simple and cheap toy that keeps him occupied and entertained for a long time!
My son’s favorite thing to do with these is knock them over after I stack them up. This has helped him with his crawling skills because when he started army crawling, I would stack the cups a little further away from him so he would crawl over to knock them down.
It’s pretty funny to watch actually. I don’t know why he loves destruction so much, but I hope that stage won’t last too long or pretty soon my house will be destroyed.
Fisher-Price Rock-a-Stack Ring-Stacking Toy
This stacking toy is a simple, cheap, and great toy for my son. He loves playing with the rings and the stand.
The starting age for this toy is 6 months, but we have been supervising our son while he plays with it since he was about 3 or 4 months old.
Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick ‘n Play Piano Gym
I was very uneasy about ordering this baby toy, but it got so many awesome reviews about babies loving it and I felt like my son needed something colorful to enjoy.
I’m not going to lie, it’s a little bit of an eyesore to me. I have been sucking it up because my son loves it so much!! He has had tummy time and play time on the mat since he was around 2 months.
We just recently took the piano part off and at 7 months he started really loving that! He’s so cute and fascinated when he plays the piano.
Even though it may clash with your decor (like it does with mine), it’s worth buying to see your little baby’s face light up with joy.
Battat Wooden Activity Cube
My son has loved this activity cube since we got it. We ordered it after a trip to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s house. They have twins 5 months older than my son and the twins AND my son were playing with it like crazy!
This has kept my baby happy and entertained since he was 4 or 5 months old. There’s a ton to explore on this activity cube!
This baby toy is on the higher price end, so maybe this could be on baby’s birthday or Christmas list for friends and family? Or an option on a baby registry? It’s been worth the price for us!
